Action Alert

HELP DARFUR NOW!

DarfurWidely recognized as the first genocide of the 21st century, the devastation in Sudan’s Darfur region has now entered its fifth year. To date, hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians have been killed and over 2.5 million have been forced from their homes and villages--often bombed and burned to the ground--by Sudanese troops and Janjaweed militia forces. Many Darfurians have fled to neighboring countries, only to face more violence and harrowing conditions in overcrowded camps.

Citizens here in the U.S. and around the world--directly and through their elected officials--must urgently call upon the Sudanese government to participate fully and immediately in a just and inclusive peace process. At the same time, political and economic pressure must be applied to speed the deployment of additional peacekeeping forces and greater humanitarian aid to Darfur without delay.
